Energy & Environment
California, as the fourth largest economy in the world, is serious about leading in the energy revolution. The transportation sector accounts for about 40 to 50-percent of the state’s greenhouse gas emissions, primarily attributable to gasoline and diesel consumption from the state’s 36 million vehicles.
The state of California has supported the transition to cleaner, lower polluting near-zero and zero-emission vehicles as a critical component to addressing the state’s clean air and climate change goals. Alternative fuels, such as electricity powering battery electric vehicles, or hydrogen powering fuel cell electric vehicles, are key mechanisms to fulfill these goals.
While it is true that hydrogen supplied today to power fuel cell electric vehicles comes mostly from natural gas, that can change with time, investment and acceptance of hydrogen powered vehicles, homes and buildings. True Zero strongly supports the use of lower-carbon hydrogen solutions to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and accelerate the transition to cleaner mobility.
